Chu pat ich dech - Killdeer
The following may sound like an "Indian story", and it is. But actually, it is also karate instruction, Box style. It is one thing to sit in your easy chair and read the story, but another thing to practice while in bear country.
When our people used to be in the mountains, a long time ago, and they would be going down a trail, and they would see a bear. At that time, in the mountains there were a lot of grizzly bears. Whenever they saw a grizzly bear they would always clear their mind. And not think about the bear. The reason why they did that was because if you thought, "I think I'm going to kill that bear" the bear would disappear (long pause)......and stalk you. And get you before.......... You see he would read your mind. So if you see a bear, just clear your mind, and he'll walk away. He he he he. (Mr. Box's laughter)
